The Austrian host cities presented themselves in the German capital. Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Austrian Ambassador in Berlin, Dr. Christian Prosl, invited 200 guests to the gala at the Austrian Embassy.

There, Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt informed the guests about the preparations for the European Championship matches and the planned programme for guests travelling to the matches. The cities also took the opportunity to present themselves in Berlin with their culinary delicacies.
There was great interest from the media representatives from all German federal states.
Together with Mayor Harald Scheucher, Klagenfurt's EURO Ambassador, Reiner Calmund, Chairman Arnulf Rainer and Andreas Schaller from the EURO office in Klagenfurt represented the host city of Klagenfurt in Berlin. Mayor Scheucher emphasised that Klagenfurt had the most beautiful stadium of all EURO host cities and was glad that two matches of the German national football team would be played in Klagenfurt. "Klagenfurt and Carinthia will warmly welcome all guests and football fans. We hope to have a major event that will be as wonderful as the Football World Cup in Germany", said Scheucher.
Jörg Haider, Provincial Governor of Carinthia, was accompanied to the event in Berlin by Jörg Schretter, the EURO coordinator of the Carinthian Tourist Board, Kärnten Werbung. He also reported of the good preparations and stated that there were enough tourist facilities in the regions around Klagenfurt and that guests would feel at home with their friends in Carinthia.
In the round of talks with the representatives of the host countries, Friedrich Stickler (President of the Austrian Football Association, ÖFB) and Theo Zwanziger (President of the German Football Federation, DFB), Andreas Herzog and Wolfgang Niersbach (DFB Secretary-General), the huge football festival that the whole of Austria is looking forward to was, of course, the focus of attention.
Among the guests to the EURO event, presenter Alfons Haider also welcomed many representatives from the embassy, among whom were representatives from Croatia and Poland whose national teams will play in Klagenfurt.
