"From fans - for fans" - that's the motto of the international fan embassies. Three such embassies will be at the core of fan service in June in Klagenfurt.
Germany, Poland and Croatia had a meeting at the Host City Office of Klagenfurt in the Europahaus. In March, the fan ambassadors of the three large European countries, Germany, Poland and Croatia, as well as representatives of the DFB (German Football Association) informed themselves about the situation in Klagenfurt, talking to representatives of the Organising Committing, the Fan Zone organisers and the police.
At a press conference, Heidi Thaler, project coordinator for Austria, thanked Mayor Harald Scheucher and chairman of the OC, Manfred Pock, with warm words: "My colleagues and I are thrilled by the outstanding support we are receiving from the Host City Klagenfurt." All fan ambassadors praised the excellent cooperation with Klagenfurt.
Fan embassies have been part of large football events since 1996. They are the central points of contact, meeting place, service providers and information platform for fans. The Klagenfurt Fan Embassy will be installed at the Exhibition Grounds. In addition, there will be mobile fan consulates in the city centre, at the train stations and near the stadium. The service is completed with a dedicated Internet site, fan guides in the various languages, and an attractive programme of side events. From June 7th to 13th, the FARE Street Kick will stop in Klagenfurt and local and international fans will have the opportunity to play each other next to the Fan Embassy.
Mayor Scheucher and the chairman of the OC, Manfred Pock, stressed the importance of the fan embassies, explaining that the city will support them with office infrastructure and provide additional volunteers for this area.
"Fans will come as guests and want to be treated as guests. Then they will come again", said Heidi Thaler asking people to offer the fans the "legendary hospitality of Klagenfurt" to score with the guests.
