Media representatives very happy with the HCMC

International journalists praise the EURO host region of Carinthia and the Media Centre organised by the city and province. As many as 370 journalists have already been accredited with the HCMC. It is not only thousands of football aficionados who pour into Klagenfurt for the EURO 2008, but also journalists from all over the world. As many as 370 media representatives have been accredited so far at the Host City Media Centre (HCMC) jointly organised by the Klagenfurt municipality and the Carinthian government. And all the journalists are enthusiastic about Carinthia and full of praise for the perfect service offered by the HCMC.

Gideon Lourens Malherbe is from South-Africa and works for Reuters International. He has already attended many large sports events world-wide, such as the Football World Championship in Germany. He likes Carinthia a lot, even though he hasn't seen much of the region yet. "The people here are very friendly, very helpful", Malherbe said and went on to say that he would like to come back with his family to spend his holidays here some time. The Reuters journalist also commended the high safety and security standards and praised the good job that the police are doing. He is impressed by the HCMC and said that the infrastructure was "top class".
Alexandra Hudson comes from England and also works for Reuters. She spent holidays with her family in Carinthia when she was a child and has nice memories of the region. She thinks that Carinthia with its lakes and mountains is perfect for family holidays. She, too, is pleased with the work of the HCMC and, being interested in arts and culture, she particularly likes the Stadthaus building that houses the Media Centre.

Christian Rosenzopf is a correspondent for uefa.com. He underlines the pleasant atmosphere at the EURO in Carinthia and criticises the fact that many media gave negative coverage of fans before the event. He said that the atmosphere was great, a superb celebration of football. Rosenzopf, too, praised the press centre in the city centre. He said it was ideally located for him because he reports mainly from the fan zones.

Jean Claude Ramige from RTL Germany finds the technical equipment at the HCMC "outstanding" and said that he had rarely seen such a well organised media centre. He said that the people were friendly, pro-active and that all liaisons were excellent.
Barbara Jandl from "Österreich" daily mentions the friendliness and helpfulness of the people at the Centre. "No matter whom you ask, you will always get a helpful answer. And the HCMC is perfectly equipped."
Frank Noack was sent to Klagenfurt by the Lausitzer Rundschau daily. He finds the atmosphere at the HCMC really pleasant, thinks that everything is well organised and praises the rich offer of information.
