The second match in Klagenfurt was again a peaceful celebration of football that will long be remembered. At the press conference at the Host City Media Centre Klagenfurt today, Carinthian Governor Jörg Haider, Mayor Harald Scheucher, Regional Police Commander Wolfang Rauchegger and Public Safety Director Albert Slamanig all agreed that the mood was great.
Governor Haider praised the disciplined fans and stressed the huge amount of people who flocked to Klagenfurt. "In total there were 104,000 people in the greater Klagenfurt area," he said. In addition to the 32.000 people watching the match at the stadium, there were 55,000 people in the Fan Zone, 13,000 at Europapark and 4,000 people in Pörtschach. Mayor Scheucher praised the traffic management system that worked perfectly on the day of the second match. "There were twice as many vehicles in the Carinthian capital as on the day of the first mach. Arrival and departure ran smoothly", he said. The Mayor also announced that the streets east of and including Domgasse would be freely accessible as of the afternoon today.
Haider and Scheucher announced a "Carinthian Family Day" in the Fan Zones for Saturday and Sunday, including a 5-euro voucher campaign.
Rauchegger reported that there were no assaults last night. As from midnight, some task forces were only on stand-by.
